What Is the Difference Between a Software Update and an Upgrade?

Upgrades go from version to version, for example, version 2019 to version 2020. Updates are small changes within the same version, for example, version 2019.1.0 to 2019.2.0.

I Have Maintenance. How Do I Upgrade Snagit or Camtasia?

If you have an active maintenance agreement, one of the benefits that you receive is free upgrades to the latest software version.

Can I Use a Single Volume Key for All My Users?

Yes, with one multi-user key for volume licenses. Send the download and key to all of your users, and they can install the licensed software with the same key. Please monitor the software to ensure that you are within the license agreement for the number of licenses you purchased. For more information about deploying TechSmith software.

Does turning off auto-renewal cancel my subscription?

No, it only cancels the renewal. You can renew your multi-seat subscription manually for 60 days (30 days before and after the subscription expires).

What if I change my mind about auto-renewal?

You can turn on/off auto-renewal for your multi-seat subscription anytime. You can choose different auto-renewal options for each subscription if you have multiple subscriptions.

Can I Install it on Two Computers?

Your single-user license can be installed on two machines; for example, you can install your program on a desktop and a laptop or a Mac and Windows machine. *Camtasia software keys will work on both Mac and Windows versions of Camtasia 9 and later.

Licensing for Snagit (Windows) and Snagit (Mac)

Beginning with Snagit (Windows) 10 and Snagit (Mac) 1, the Snagit license key is cross-platform compatible. Snagit is licensed per user, and your Snagit license is authorized for a second installation to accommodate Mac use.

When you buy a TechSmith product, whether a single license or a volume license, the first year's maintenance is mandatory and included in the price.

• With maintenance, you get all new versions and releases for free during the contract period.

• You get priority support directly from TechSmith's product specialists, which can be helpful if your team, e.g., has unique needs for installation, use, or safety requirements.

• In principle, all volume licenses start with one user, if you add more users later, regardless of the number you started with - with a maintenance agreement - your license will accumulate, and you will obtain proportional discounts (tier users) as you add more users. You cannot achieve this without a maintenance agreement. If you don't have an active maintenance agreement, you have to start over each time, and you, therefore, lose the opportunity to get a discount.

• An active maintenance agreement ensures that you only have one agreement for all your users/installations, regardless of the number and any subsequent purchases. Compared to managing your licenses individually and on an annual basis, this is a huge advantage and saves you a lot of time and administration.

• It is also an advantage for the IT department, as with one agreement, they can roll out licenses on the network without dealing with each user individually.

• You get access to TechSmith's three-pronged training content for beginners and experienced users. You can train and learn at your own pace, and when you complete the course, you will receive an official Camtasia or Snagit certification.
